United KingdomThe location west facing, looking out into the sea, balcony with table and chairs and room for yoga mat. Aircon and firm bed. Shower fine, towels supplied, bring your own toiletries. Kitchen well supplied. Just over a km to the supermarket and eateries. Chilled here loved the locals. Stayed 6 days, could easily stay longer. Had a car to explore south west of the island. Cleaner, Nicole, a lovely lady, came in each day.
Now off to the East.

It's a properly rustic paradise area, away from the more fabricated hotel resorts. Lots of locals who know one another and it feels safe, if a little rough around the edges. It has its own cultural and geographical charm that seems to differentiate it from other parts of Mauritius. Lots of places to eat, a good supermarket - seems expensive for the area, but I think this is quite common. Good offers of boat hire to get over to Ile aux Benitiers, which is well worth it. La Gaulette does not have a beach and the sea there is ugly.
La Gaulette does not have a beach and the sea there is ugly. Le Morne (which is very close) is the only place nearby with a nice beach, but it is widely occupied by luxury hotels. another problem with La Gaulette is that it is not usable as a base for visiting Mauritius, becasue is far away from all main attractions except 7 color earth and Black River falls.Guest review byUgoBItaly - Review score

An ideal place to visit La Morne and surrounding areas without the crowds. Nearby supermarket for groceries and restaurants. Close to Le Morne and other attractions and places worth visiting, 90 min drive to Port Louis. Island is a paradise for botanical enthusiasts, hikers, climbers, fans of all sorts of water sports and beautiful reef fish, encounters with whales, dolphins etc.very friendly lovely locals and I felt very safe at all times, safer than in European many places. The clear water at the beach was exelent. The clearest seewater I have seen on the hole island! The surounding with the mountains are great. The beach is clean. No waist is liing around. - Review scoreExceptional · 189 reviewseverything. out of all our bookings in Mauritius, this was by far our favorite! we had the room with the view over le Morne, the ocean and la gaulette and I was highly impressed by that. the furniture is modern, which is not the norm in apartments in Mauritius and it was perfectly clean. the balcony is just perfect. you can also use the washing machine if you want, which can be helpful. Bianca is super friendly and the communication was easy. all in all 10/10. I’m super sad we only had one night here.Guest review byleonieGermany

Location is great for accessing the wonderful south west of Mauritius. It has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The owner is really helpful, and he arranged for us the tour to swim with dolphins and whales.
