Hiroko and Kazu (the owners) are amazing people that were very kind and ready to help. Hiroko even picked me up from the train station! They offered a lot of very helpful information for my stay at Wakayama. I'm very happy to have followed their advice as that made my visit a wonderful one! They speak English, French, and Japanse! Would definitely stay again and would very much recommend staying at this hostel!

I liked that it was close to the station and was down the main street. I loved the sauna kept at 100 degrees C. and the 10 degrees C. cold rinse. The breakfast had a lot of Japanese foods to sample as well as some western food. Washing machine is free but dryer requires coins. Wakayama is a big city with wide streets and traffic, location is near to bus stops and one day trips with trains are easily negotiated.

I must've paid for the room upgrade because I was on one of the highest floors with a view of Wakayama castle. I could've spent all day looking out the window. And then the castle lit up at night as well. The restaurant was spacious and the breakfast buffet included an omelet bar and cereal as well as the usual Japanese and Western fare.

Friendly staff, had valuable and unforgettable time spent in Wakayama thanks to Wakayama Urban Hotel. Arrived Wakayama at 9 AM and left the luggage at the lobby which made our day so much easier traveling around to sites. Located 2 mins walk from metro station, very visible from the metro entrance. Room was clean and tidy, breakfast was great.

The location is perfect; it is only a 5 minute walk to the Kii Tanabe station where you would have access to all kinds of transportation. The guesthouse is actually a traditional Japanese residence which has a very authentic feel. The host is kind and multilingual. It is an excellent base to explore the southern part of Wakayama Prefecture.

Rooftop terrace with complimentary drink and screening of Wakayama attractions was pleasant diversion. Opening hour could be earlier to view surroundings before dark falls. Convenient location next to JR station and shopping mall. They have a pillow bar for selection and complimentary curry rice in the evening.

Lovely to stay and enjoy the delicious food and tranquility. I only wish we had stayed longer. Very interesting to hear Giovanni's story of developing the accommodation and preserving Japanese culture in Wakayama. Comfortable bed and space. We were nice and warm despite the freezing temperatures outside!

Lovely room, comfortable bed, bath and room had great view over marina. Friendly staff. Easy to get to by public transport. Good place to relax, an onsen nearby. However a bit far for seeing Wakayama castle etc. I think we were the only International travellers here.

The location was great and the room and services were fantastic. The location was great and wakayamas transportation system makes it very easy to get around by bus. The staff was upset helpful and the common room was very nice as well

This apartment was amazing value for money! I only stayed a couple days, but it would be a great place to use as a base for exploring Wakayama. The apartment was clean and nicely decorated, and the kitchen was well equipped.

The facilities, exterior and the interior wise the most clean and beautiful hostel I have ever stayed. Attentive and sweet staff. Will definitely stay again here if I revisit Wakayama next time.

Very big and clean rooms! Near JR Wakayama station, so easy to reach. If you come by car, free parking spaces are available. Rooms had all we needed.

Great ametities, including free breakfast and drinks. The location was also good, walkable distance from the Wakayama station.

Nankai Wakayama station is newly built . nice supermarket and tsutaya bookstore downstairs . the rooftop public bath is nice

The sea view of room and the swimming pool are fantastic and the hot spring is especially welcomed by local people

The hotel is on a peninsula, and can be reached either by a hotel ferry from the main harbour, or a set of shuttle busses they run on demand and from the car park (which is about 1km from the hotel). It is very easy to reach either by car or public transport - it’s a 5 moon walk from the station or bus stop to the jetty where the ferry goes from. There alway seemed to be at least one English speaking staff member at reception, so we had not trouble with communications. Food was fantastic - though the buffet is mostly the same from day to day, and so despite having plenty of choices might get a little sameish during a long stay (perfectly fine during our two-night stay). The two sea cave onsen baths were a lot of fun. Both have partitions down the middle with nude gender segregated bathing on either side. Yukata and slippers are provided - the slippers were plenty big enough for our enormous western feet. Our room was a Japanese style family room, and worked well with five of us. A lovely view over the harbour and a mix of Japanese and western style chairs to sit on. There is a small convenience store in the hotel. We drove in a hire car - there always seemed to be people waiting at the car park to shuttle us the 5 min to the hotel.

Amazing and friendly host, lovely atmosphere, beautiful view, comfortable rooms, delicious food!
